New Release for Fall 2008

Dear Friends,

When I first saw the grapes going into the picking bins, I thought, “This fruit is pretty special.” From the Napa Valley Vintners website we have read, “2005 is generally regarded by the vintner community as one of the most, spectacular growing seasons in memory
with grape quality soaring to new heights....”

This is high praise indeed, but I’ll bet you are asking, “Yes, but how is the wine?” Well, I must say, this is the best wine that we have released to date. The season began late, but the summer was without any heat spikes, prolonged winds, or rains— ideal for the production of fully ripe fruit. “Fully ripe” to us means that the vine has pushed the grapes to
complete the cycle of ripening, which certainly includes sugar production, but also means full tannin development and deep color— all necessary for any truly cellar-worthy wine.

We have been lucky to find an ideal home for our wine production, a location just off the Silverado Trail in the heart of the Napa Valley. This cozy spot is steeped in valley history— the winery is in the shadow of an ancient and giant oak tree that once marked the northern boundary of George Yount’s (Yountville) Spanish land grant. The driveway to the winery was the original Silverado Trail, back when stagecoaches once plied the roads.

We would love to have you come see us. Please be advised that visits to the winery, given it’s small and rustic size, must be arranged in advance. Please call: (707) 225-4367 to set up a visit and a tasting.

From Napa: take the Silverado Trail to Sage Canyon (CA-128 “to Berryessa”) and turn East. Go 400 yards and our entry is on the right.

Best regards,

Sally and Rollie Heitz
